To meet the high reliability requirements of steam turbines, the tilting pad bearing undergoes the following inspections after finish machining:
1. Dimension and Form Tolerance Inspection
Bearing inner bore diameter, outer diameter, end face dimensions, and critical fit areas are inspected.
At the same time, inner bore roundness, cylindricality, coaxiality, and pad pivot position accuracy are measured to ensure all parameters comply with drawing specifications.
2. Tilting Pad Flexibility Inspection
Each pad is manually checked for free tilting movement around its pivot to confirm there is no sticking or abnormal resistance, ensuring that the pads can self-adapt to journal position changes during operation.
3. Contact Spot Inspection
A contact check is performed between the pad inner bore and a test journal using marking compound to confirm that the contact area and distribution meet technical requirements, avoiding localized overload.
4. Final Cleaning and Re-inspection
The finished product is ultrasonically cleaned to remove machining residues, followed by re-inspection of critical dimensions to ensure cleanliness and accuracy meet shipping standards.
